Calypso Condo

Fourteen Floors Up, Zero Reasons to Move the Car

3 Bedroom 2 Bathroom Ocean Front Condo

The beach is downstairs. Two 175-foot pools are downstairs. Your chairs and umbrella are already set up on the sand every morning (beach service is on us, March through October). And Pier Park — 120-some shops and restaurants, the SkyWheel, Ripley's, the movie theater, the pier — is directly across the street. We've had guests tell us they didn't buy gas the entire trip. That's the whole pitch, honestly.

Summer and spring break go first, and repeat guests book a year out.

Inside the Condo

The primary suite has a king pillow-top, blackout drapes (this matters more than any amenity list admits), and its own door to the balcony. Sunrise over the Gulf from bed. The bath has a double vanity and a walk-in closet big enough that you'll actually unpack.

The guest room — queen pillow-top, down duvet, its own access to the second bath, and a window that looks out over Pier Park all lit up at night.

The bunk room — two full-size bunks, so it works for four kids or, frankly, four adults who drew the short straw. It has its own TV and the Pier Park view. This is the room the kids claim before the bags are inside.

Living, dining, balcony. Sectional and oversized ottoman facing the Gulf, dining for eight, and the balcony with bar-height seating and a loveseat where every evening ends. We redecorated this unit ourselves and we're a little proud of it.

The kitchen is a real kitchen — granite, stainless side-by-side with filtered water and ice, full range, dishwasher, wet bar, and yes, a stockpot, because someone in your group is going to buy fresh crab and we've learned to be ready for it.

Full-size washer and dryer in the unit. Pack for four days, stay for seven.

The Resort

Two beachfront pools, tiki bar, fitness center, luggage carts, and a climate-controlled bridge from the parking level. Jet skis, parasailing, and banana boats operate right off the sand out front — the vendors will find you.

The Location

Calypso sits on the west end of Front Beach Road, about a mile east of Highway 79 — the best walkable stretch of the beach, in our opinion. Frank Brown Park and the Aaron Bessant amphitheater (check the summer concert calendar) are minutes away. When you want a quieter day, St. Andrews State Park and the Shell Island shuttle are twenty minutes east and worth every one of them.

The Stuff Guests Ask Us About Most

  • "Is parking really included?" Yes. Under the building, reserved, ride the elevator straight up. Most units at Calypso send you to the deck across the road.

  • "Do we need to bring beach chairs?" No. Seasonal chair service — two loungers and an umbrella — is included with your stay.

  • "What's the view actually like?" Fourteenth floor, gulf-front. You will take a picture of your coffee on that balcony. Everyone does.
